Coalition Against NATO and Imperialist War Announces Its Formation: March to the Streets Against NATO and War in the Footsteps of 1968

Coalition Against NATO and Imperialist War,

The Coalition Against NATO and Imperialist War has officially announced its formation, declaring, “Let us raise the united struggle of workers, laborers, and oppressed peoples against NATO, the murderer of peoples, at the NATO summit in July 2026.”

The coalition made its announcement at a press conference held at the Önder Babat Cultural Center under the slogan "We do not want the NATO summit in Ankara. No to NATO, the murderer of peoples."

In a press statement, it was emphasized that the NATO summit will be held in Turkey after 22 years, stating, "As we all know, the capitalist imperialist system, in its search for a way out of the crisis, is intensifying its economic and political attacks on the working class and laborers. While the exploitation of women’s labor and bodies deepens, nature is being plundered, and species are being destroyed. The imperialists continue to take steps to deepen a new division and hegemony war, centered on the Zionist Greater Israel. In this context, the working class and laborers are condemned to misery. The anger building against this is being turned into a tool for the rulers’ war through racism and nationalism."

Imperialists Will Gather to Share the World

Bilgen stated that the world is currently dominated by the agenda of war, adding, "Libya, Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Iran, Venezuela, and Cuba, these are the recent flashpoints we have witnessed. Imperialists are showing no restraint in their aggression to crush the struggles of the oppressed peoples, especially in the Middle East, starting with Palestine. Reactionary regional states are attempting to crush the people’s struggle in Rojava, while Western imperialists and Israel are manipulating this struggle to subjugate the regional peoples. In such a process, NATO, created 77 years ago as an imperialist alliance against socialism and communism, will hold its 2026 summit in Ankara on July 7-8. The heads of NATO member states will come together to finalize new war and attack policies against the world’s people, workers, and laborers, and to negotiate how the world will be re-divided."

NATO: The Occupation Force of Imperialism

It was reminded that NATO was established during a period of revolution to combat the struggles of the working class and oppressed peoples: "Since its creation, NATO has been an organized force against the revolutionary liberation struggles of the world’s working class and oppressed peoples. After the collapse of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, NATO did not cease to exist. On the contrary, it was restructured in accordance with the conditions of the imperialist world system. NATO was given the explicit task, through the new alliance agreement, to suppress any civil war, popular uprisings, or revolutions that might arise in its member countries. In geopolitical regional struggles for division and hegemony, NATO has fulfilled this new mission. It has also become an ‘intervention force’ in various parts of the world, acting as an occupying force. Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed in these wars, and millions have been displaced. Countries have been destroyed, and nature has been ravaged."

It was underlined that the return of imperialist division wars is due to the crisis of the imperialist capitalist system: "The imperialist world is preparing for new wars of division and reorganization. Without a doubt, the United States is leading the charge in this imperialist struggle for hegemony. The declaration of Venezuela, Colombia, and Cuba in Latin America and Iran in the Middle East as targets for U.S. occupation, along with the ongoing trade war with China, indicates that the imperialist war is expanding. All imperialist centers and states are positioning themselves according to these developments. The NATO summit in July 2026 will be a crucial moment for planning and making decisions regarding these new imperialist war preparations."

No Drop of Blood for the Bourgeoisie

The Alliance stated that it is the poor who are sent to the front lines of imperialist wars and that the working class and oppressed peoples have nothing to gain from these wars: "The oppressed have no drop of blood to spill for the bourgeoisie. Our stance against imperialist wars must be to fight for our social liberation. Since its creation, the Republic of Turkey, one of NATO's most influential members, has been directly involved in suppressing popular uprisings and national liberation movements in the Middle East, the Balkans, the Caucasus, and Africa, and in imperialist struggles for hegemony. For our country, NATO is not an external entity, it is an internal reality. Turkey is a member and inseparable part of NATO. The army is NATO’s army. NATO is the tool for the imperialist powers to colonize and enslave peoples."

Let’s Unite Against Imperialist War and NATO

The participants stated that mobilizing against NATO means raising the struggle against the imperialist-capitalist system: "For Turkish workers and laborers, opposing NATO means defending their livelihoods. For the youth, opposing NATO means defending their future. For women, opposing NATO means not allowing their bodies to become battlefields and defending their freedom. For the peoples, opposing NATO means defending their nature, rivers, air, and water. Let us raise the united struggle of workers, laborers, and oppressed peoples against NATO at the 2026 NATO summit, and continue to fight for freedom, justice, and socialism."

March to the Streets in the Footsteps of 1968

The Alliance called to prepare for the 2026 anti-imperialist struggle, not just against NATO but also against ecological destruction and the COP31 conference in Antalya in November 2026: "Let us unite against imperialist wars, NATO, and COP31. Let’s not allow NATO, the imperialist war organization, to prepare new crimes against the people in these lands. We call on all workers, laborers, and the oppressed to take to the streets, in the footsteps of the revolutionary leaders of the '68 generation, to fight, to act, and to resist."
