In light of the military aggression by the United States of America, in alliance with Zionist Israel, against Iran, we condemn this aggression in the strongest terms. It targets civilian and military facilities and represents a dangerous escalation that could escalate into a world war. The U.S. government and Zionist Israel bear full responsibility for this, through the continuation of their systematic policy of aggression, such as the genocide in Gaza or the daily attacks on Lebanon and its occupation, resulting in hundreds of deaths and hundreds of thousands of displaced persons. In a broader strategic context, this aims solely to create a fait accompli through military force.

The goal is to redraw the political map of the Middle East to serve the imperialist interests of the U.S. and the imperialist-fascist plans for a Greater Israel through the subjugation of sovereign states, control over national resources, and the suppression of any sovereign project that defies their dictates. Even at the cost of acutely provoking a Third World War. The U.S. and Zionist Israel are consciously accepting a confrontation—including a military one—with China and Russia as Iran’s strategic allies. This constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and a direct attack on the right of peoples to sovereignty and self-determination.

On February 28, a brutal attack was launched against the Islamic Republic of Iran, in which sovereign, military, and civilian facilities were bombed, resulting in hundreds of deaths—including over 165 girls and 100 boys—and numerous injuries. Fascist warfare has become a habit, arrogantly kidnapping heads of state as in Venezuela or executing them as in Iran. The aggression has now been ongoing for more than three weeks.

The Iranian government responded immediately with attacks on Zionist Israel and the most important U.S. military bases in the region in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Jordan.

We declare:

1) ICOR strongly condemns this ruthless aggression by U.S. imperialism and Zionist Israel against Iran, which is a despicable attempt to dry up the sources of all forces that offer resistance and stand in the way of expansionist plans, as well as to plunder the Middle East, plunge it into total chaos, and realize the power claims of the U.S. and Zionist Israel there.

2) This war aims to restore a regime subservient to the US. To this end, US imperialism is supporting, among others, Reza Pahlavi, the son of the former Shah of Iran, while simultaneously attempting to control Iranian oil and disrupt its supplies, particularly to China —a further step toward Trump’s plan to enforce the dominance of American energy monopolies over the world’s most important oil regions. He has already demonstrated this in a contemptuous manner through the invasion of Venezuela and the cruel and inhumane oil blockade against Cuba.

3) The reopening of the war front against Iran comes against the backdrop of the failure of Zionist Israel and U.S. imperialism to achieve their goals in the 12-Day War in June 2025. Furthermore, all resistance in Lebanon, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank is to be disarmed and suppressed in order to rapidly advance the “New Middle East” project. The escalation of the war of aggression has turned hundreds of thousands of people into displaced persons. People worldwide are suffering from the economic consequences, such as skyrocketing energy and gasoline prices. If the war continues into the summer, the World Food Programme estimates that an additional 45 million people will be pushed into hunger.

4) ICOR commends the steadfastness of the peoples of Iran and stands in solidarity with the victims. It has repeatedly condemned the theocratic regime in Iran, which systematically denies the peoples of Iran their fundamental rights and freedoms and drowns any democratic opposition in blood. It expresses its comprehensive and principled stance and solidarity with the peoples of Iran and supports the progressive workers’, youth, and women’s movement in Iran, which has made history under the slogan “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi.” But only the masses of the people in Iran, just as the masses in Lebanon or Gaza, have the right to determine their government. Therefore, the ICOR also calls on all free people of the world to intensify the struggle against imperialist war and fascism in the region and worldwide in order to bring it to an end.
