Statement on the US-Israeli aggression against Iran

Communist Organization of Greece / KOE,

A. The unprovoked and illegal aggression by the US and Israel against Iran once more confirms that North American imperialism (and, closely following, the genocidal rogue state) is the number one international terrorist. On the first day of the aggression alone, hundreds of civilians were massacred, including the murder of 165 schoolgirls in the triple bombing of a primary school in Minab, the extermination of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei and his family, etc., which show that the US and Israel are evil and gangster forces. What has been happening since Saturday morning, even though it had been agreed that the US-Iran talks would continue, constitutes a shredding of international law and another flagrant violation of the UN Charter.

B. The peoples of the world understand that they can expect nothing positive from these criminal forces. And many governments understand that they cannot have the slightest confidence in those international gangsters: whatever they say and sign is fake and worthless. That is why opposition to this illegal and criminal war of Hitlerian "quality" is universal, and condemnation is in the majority even within the US. Who is blackmailing whom and how (the Epstein files "unite" them all) to bring about such a despicable act is of little interest at this point. What is certain is that those who direct, commit, and/or support the crime must sit in the dock of a new Nuremberg.

C. The obscene propaganda of the attackers, whose only "argument" is their self-admiration for their power and predatory nature, their brazen statements about preventive strikes and their monstrous lies, which Goebbels would envy, fail to conceal the reality. The Iranians, except for a handful of unrepentant emigrants who live off stolen goods, oppose the attempt to crush Iran's national sovereignty and to dismember their country – regardless of whether they sympathize with the government or not. Those who supposedly condemn the attack but at the same time express satisfaction with its consequences (Khamenei’s murder, etc.) are worse than those who applaud it.

D. Despite the decapitation of much of its political and military leadership and the overwhelming military superiority of the aggressors, Iran is resisting. It is true that today the balance of power is becoming even more negative for the peoples, and that the darkness of imperialist barbarism is spreading. But it is also true that the gangsters have started a regional war of unknown outcome and duration, involving many countries, and it is doubtful that it will achieve its goal of "regime change." The US is already feeling the difficulties, which is why it is demanding – and getting – the immediate involvement of the European dwarfs in the gangster attack.

E. The conflict does not concern Iran only. It is part of the overall struggle for control of the Middle East, energy flows, and sea lanes in the eastern Mediterranean, at a time when North American hegemony is being openly challenged, and is therefore becoming more aggressive and more dangerous. Bases, pipelines, ports, and "strategic partnerships" are becoming critical hubs in a wider war. Any country that joins these plans ceases to be neutral and becomes part of the conflict – with all that this entails.

F. The docile government of the Greek colony, like the pro-NATO government of Cyprus, have already transformed the Greek territories into an advanced outpost of the US-NATO and a rear base for Israel. The Greek elites delude themselves that they will save their skins and even make a profit by selling off national sovereignty and dignity and the real interests of our people. Now, completely shamelessly, first among all Washington's vassals, the governing adventurers and the non-existent opposition are involving us in an unjust and illegal war, while at the same time their parrots in the media are distorting reality.

G. The drone attack on the British base at Akrotiri in Cyprus proves that war is close to us. It is not so much geography that is to blame, as the reckless choices of the elites in Greece and Cyprus. It is a matter of self-protection, and of the necessary insistence on supporting the justice and the sovereignty of countries, that we immediately disengage from the escalation of war. Before it is too late, and in order to prevent Greece and Cyprus from being targeted as collaborators of the aggressor, the necessary and realistic steps, even under the present conditions, are:

1) The return of the Patriot missiles batteries, paid for by the Greek people, from Saudi Arabia, along with the more than 100 Greek military personnel/operators o these batteries.

2) An unambiguous declaration that the Republic of Cyprus does not consent to the military use of the two British bases on Cypriot soil, which are an anachronistic remnant of colonialism.

3) At least for the duration of the war, the US bases in our country, especially the one in Souda Bay, should cease to operate.

4) No concessions to the Zionist state and the terrorists of the IDF. Iran is not an enemy of Greece.

H. The dark clouds will not disperse because of some intervention of deus ex machina. Now is the time to abandon ostrich-like behavior, to stop investing in non-existent easy solutions, to face reality head-on, and to cultivate an attitude of combative dignity and resistance. In the face of a deeply flawed and self-serving political system that is tearing our country apart and undermining its very existence, let us raise a united, independent movement for national sovereignty, social justice, true democratization, and fair peace in the wider region. It is in Greece's interest not only to stop our country from being a hub of war and a foreign outpost, but also to once again become the center of struggles for free peoples in free countries.
