Declaration of Solidarity with the Miners of Doruk Madencilik and Their Families

Dear miners and families,

we, the International Miners’ Coordination, have heard about your courageous march to Ankara. We can only encourage you to demand the rights that Doruk Mining has been denying you for years. You have our full support in this.

Your union has reported that 110 miners have been arrested, and that you will not leave until your rights are granted.

The manganese miners in Chiatura, Georgia, have also been fighting for over a year for their wages and jobs, and for a future for themselves and their families. Four of their strike leaders were arrested and sentenced to long prison terms on flimsy and false charges. Miners and progressive forces across the world have protested against this and are not giving up!

Miners in Europe and across the world must stand together, keep each other informed and share their experiences. We must learn to coordinate our struggles and cooperate. No struggle should stand alone!

We condemn the repression against the struggling miners and support the demand for the immediate payment of wages and continued employment.

May Day is the workers’ day of struggle, when we take to the streets together, for the workers and peoples of the world do not want to live like this!
