Portrait of Comrade Zheng Huilu

The green mountains bow, the sky sheds tears.

On March 18, 2026, the Communist Party of China (Marx, Lenin, Mao), the Chinese Working Class Association, the Chinese Mao Zedong Flag Network, and the Chinese Red Flag Network jointly organized a solemn memorial service attended by more than 300 revolutionary comrades, to mourn together in deep sorrow the outstanding representative of the Communist Party of China, the pioneer of the Chinese working class, the brave defender of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, the revolutionary hero in the struggle against revisionism and the restoration of capitalism—Comrade Zheng Huilu, the leader of the labor movement in Luoyang, Henan Province.

The memorial service was presided over by Comrade Wang Benqing, a former comrade-in-arms of Comrade Zheng Huilu.

The memorial service began in a solemn and reverent atmosphere, accompanied by funeral music and a funeral march.

Subsequently, all those present observed a minute of silence for Comrade Zheng Huilu.

After the moment of silence, Comrade Shi Mai of the Chinese Mao Zedong Flag Network delivered a eulogy.

The eulogy first paid tribute to Comrade Zheng Huilu’s revolutionary achievements during his lifetime.

For a long time, Comrade Zheng Huilu led the laid-off workers of the Luoyang Mining Machinery Factory in their struggle and was sentenced to one year in prison for doing so. In the interests of the working masses, Comrade Zheng Huilu dared to fight without fear of repression and persecution, thereby demonstrating the class consciousness of a generation of workers shaped by Marxism-Leninism and Maoism.

The eulogy emphasized that, in accordance with Chairman Mao’s teachings, Comrade Zheng Huilu earnestly investigated the facts that a capitalist restoration was being carried out under the guise of reform and opening up, scientifically analyzed these facts from the correct class standpoint, and profoundly exposed the sufferings of the working class. This demonstrates that Comrade Zheng Huilu had mastered Marxism-Leninism-Maoism and threw himself into the struggle armed with Marxism-Leninism-Maoism. Not only did he possess the courage to fight for the interests of the masses, but above all, he was a conscious worker and a genuine communist who had emerged from the ranks of the workers and held fast to Marxism-Leninism-Maoism. He believed in Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, possessed a noble communist style, and was ready to fight and toil for his ideals and convictions; he was a steadfast defender and fighter for the communist faith.

We stood together in the storm and held high the banner of the communist movement side by side; now death separates us, and tears cannot make up for the comradeship in struggle. As a comrade and fellow fighter who fought alongside Comrade Zheng Huilu during his lifetime, the representative of the Communist Party of China (Marxism-Leninism-Maoism), Comrade Xiang Guanqi, delivered a speech titled “Deeply Mourned: Comrade Zheng Huilu.”

Comrade Xiang Guanqi began by saying: Today, March 18, is the day on which the heroes of the Paris Commune heroically seized power through an armed uprising. This day was already established as a revolutionary holiday of the working class during the lifetimes of Marx and Engels. On this day every year, the masses of workers worldwide take to the streets to commemorate their revolutionary forebears, learn from them, and proclaim to the old capitalist world: Even though the heroes of the Paris Commune have fallen, the revolutionary cause of the working class has not failed. The children of the heroes of the Paris Commune will carry forward the revolutionary principles of the Paris Commune and carry out the communist revolution of the working class to the end.

In his speech, Comrade Xiang Guanqi spoke highly of Comrade Zheng Huilu. He said: Comrade Zheng Huilu is a loyal and outstanding disciple and fighter of Chairman Mao! He is a shining example of today’s Chinese working class! He is a shining example of true communists in today’s China! He is a shining example of the revolutionary fighters of the working class who are courageously throwing themselves into the socialist re-revolution in today’s China!

Comrade Xiang Guanqi has always held the view that in the struggle for the socialist re-revolution, the class struggle and the struggle over the political line are at the center of all forms of struggle; that one must attack the command center and seize state power; and that one must resolutely oppose all opportunism and all forms of royalist ideologies. That is why Comrade Xiang Guanqi emphatically stressed in his speech: Comrade Zheng Huilu always heeded Chairman Mao’s words, placed the class struggle and the struggle over the political line at the center, drew a clear line against the monarchist currents that were “only against corrupt officials, not against the emperor,” and stood courageously at the forefront of the class struggle. That is why he was also persecuted most severely by the fascist dictatorship! He fought until his last breath under conditions of poverty and illness. When we commemorate Comrade Zheng Huilu today, the most important and unforgettable thing is to learn the spirit of Comrade Zheng Huilu, who truly dedicated himself to the practice of class struggle, to carry on this spirit, and to ignite as quickly as possible a revolutionary storm throughout the country against bureaucratic monopoly capitalism under the fascist dictatorship of the bourgeoisie, to smash the headquarters of the bourgeoisie, to regain the power stolen by the bourgeoisie within the Party, and to honor Chairman Mao as well as the revolutionary martyrs, including Comrade Zheng Huilu, with the great victory of the socialist revolution in China.

In his speech, Comrade Xiang Guanqi also seriously raised the question of how we should proceed in the future:

As a serious communist who adheres to Marxism-Leninism and Maoism, one must seriously reflect: Is the line of our struggle correct or incorrect? Is the strategy of our struggle correct or incorrect? As early as the Manifesto of the First International, it was emphasized that the working masses already possess absolute numerical superiority; the problem is that they must be armed with knowledge and theory. Lenin also pointed out that the ruling class could not rule a single day longer if the working masses truly came to consciousness. This makes it clear: It is not that the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie is strong, but rather that the working masses have not yet awakened. If we cannot solve this problem, if we keep postponing the socialist revolution and putting it off indefinitely, we will be doing a disservice to both the billions of living working people and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives—and above all, we will be doing a disservice to Chairman Mao, who placed infinite hopes in us. I believe this would also be the historical issue that Comrade Zheng Huilu would have held most dear to his heart. He and she cannot find peace in the afterlife, and Chairman Mao, in particular, cannot put aside his concern for us. Therefore, this is our most important, urgent, and indispensable historical task, which we must fulfill today at the memorial service for Comrade Zheng Huilu.

Comrade Xiang Guanqi was on the verge of tears several times during his speech, which deeply moved the comrades attending the memorial service.

Subsequently, the representative of China Red Flag, Comrade Wei Bi, read Mao Zedong’s text “Serving the People” with great emotional depth. It states: Man must die, but death has different meanings. In ancient Chinese literature, Sima Qian once said: “Though man must die, death is sometimes heavier than Mount Tai, sometimes lighter than a feather.” To die for the welfare of the people is heavier than Mount Tai; to work for fascism and to die for those who exploit and oppress the people is lighter than a feather. Comrade Zhang Side died for the welfare of the people; his death is heavier than Mount Tai.

From now on, within our ranks, no matter who dies—be it a cook or a soldier—we will arrange a funeral and hold a memorial service for anyone who has done good. This shall become the rule. This practice shall also be made known among the people. When someone dies in the village, a memorial service shall be held. In this way, we express our grief and strengthen the solidarity of the entire people.

Finally, the memorial service concluded with the majestic “Internationale.”

Before and after the memorial service, revolutionary groups and leftist comrades from all parts of the country, including the Hong Kong region, as well as friends from all walks of life, sent letters of condolence expressing their deep sorrow over the passing of Comrade Zheng Huilu.

The memorial service deeply moved both the revolutionary comrades in attendance and those watching the broadcast. All agreed that the eulogies and thematic speeches were profound and moving, and unanimously declared that they would carry forward Comrade Zheng Huilu’s unfinished work, unite under the great red banner of Maoism, continue the revolution, and contribute to the restoration of Chairman Mao’s revolutionary line as well as to the revival of the revolutionary heyday of the international communist movement!

Appendix 1: Brief Biography of Comrade Zheng Huilu

Comrade Zheng Huilu, born in 1956. Worker at the Luoyang Mining Machinery Plant. The Luoyang Mining Machinery Plant was one of the 156 key projects in mining and industry during China’s First Five-Year Plan. During the hard pioneering years, Comrade Zheng Huilu was rooted on the production front, worked tirelessly, and, together with his fellow workers, developed new production techniques, for which he was repeatedly awarded the title of “Model Worker.” In the 1990s, amid the turbulent wave of privatization and restructuring of state-owned enterprises, Comrade Zheng Huilu was laid off, thereby losing his status as a worker as well as any source of income. For a long time, Comrade Zheng Huilu propagated Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, advocated the superiority of socialist public ownership, and led the workers in a resolute struggle against the group of revisionist traitors with their specific characteristics, for which he was repeatedly imprisoned and sentenced by the authorities. In these cruel and setback-ridden struggles, Comrade Zheng Huilu carefully analyzed the causes of the repeated defeats: First, it was a spontaneous struggle without a proper ideological guideline; the illusion that one’s rights could be enforced through legal means proved untenable in practice. Second, no organization formed during the struggle, let alone a leadership core with a firm stance, which led to the failure of the struggle. This proves that the socialist revolution remains inextricably linked to the leadership of the Communist Party.

Since he had no income, Comrade Zheng Huilu was unable to receive effective treatment despite his illness. He continued to fight for a long time despite his illness, but his health deteriorated progressively until he passed away on the evening of March 9, 2026, at the age of 70.

A life in the service of the revolution, whose courage and determination shine like the sun and moon; a long journey, whose unfinished work awaits the next generation. With his life full of loyalty and sincerity, Comrade Zheng Huilu has shown us the meaning of a conscious worker’s life and the tireless pursuit of a communist.

Comrade Zheng Huilu will live on forever!

Appendix 2: Keynote Speech by Comrade Xiang Guanqi at the Memorial Service for Comrade Zheng Huilu

In Deep Mourning for Comrade Zheng Huilu

Xiang Guanqi

Today, March 18, is the day on which the heroes of the Paris Commune heroically seized power through an armed uprising. This day was already declared a revolutionary holiday of the working class during the lifetimes of Marx and Engels. Every year on this day, the masses of workers worldwide take to the streets to commemorate their revolutionary forebears, learn from them, and proclaim to the old capitalist world: Even though the heroes of the Paris Commune have fallen, the revolutionary cause of the working class has not failed.

The children of the heroes of the Paris Commune will carry forward the revolutionary principles of the Paris Commune and carry out the communist revolution of the working class to the end.

Those who fight must make sacrifices; the fruits of revolutionary victory have always been watered and nourished by the blood of martyrs. Since the Paris Commune, over the past 100 years, countless heroic sons and daughters of the working class—whether on the path of revolution or under a hail of bullets—have sacrificed their lives for the happy lives of future generations. They fell heroically, yet it is precisely their sacrifice that has made social progress possible. That is why it is important for us, the living, to keep them in our memories forever and to commemorate them. Today, another of our dear comrades and fellow fighters has left us: Comrade Zheng Huilu.

Comrade Zheng Huilu has left us forever. It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Comrade Huilu today.

In his famous speech “Serving the People,” delivered in memory of Comrade Zhang Side, Chairman Mao said: “Man must die, but death has different meanings. A scholar from ancient China named Sima Qian once said: ‘Man must die, but death is sometimes heavier than Mount Tai, sometimes lighter than a feather.’ To die for the good of the people is heavier than Mount Tai; to work for fascism and to die for those who exploit and oppress the people is lighter than a feather. Comrade Zhang Side died for the good of the people, and his death is heavier than Mount Tai.” (From: “Selected Works of Mao Zedong,” Volume 3, page 954.) These words of Chairman Mao apply to all revolutionary martyrs, and today they apply fully to Comrade Zheng Huilu as well. Comrade Zheng Huilu died for the welfare of the people; his death weighs heavier than Mount Tai.

Furthermore, we should recognize that Comrade Zheng Huilu is a hero of the new era who has emerged in a new historical epoch and in the new class struggle. As we have seen with our own eyes, Comrade Zheng Huilu emerged under even harsher and more difficult historical conditions—the rise of revisionism, the restoration of capitalism, and the imposition of the bourgeoisie’s fascist dictatorship—to fight for the welfare of the people and sacrifice his life. This makes his deed all the more valuable and further highlights the nobility and greatness of Comrade Zheng Huilu!

Comrade Zheng Huilu is a loyal and outstanding disciple and fighter of Chairman Mao! He is a shining representative of today’s Chinese working class! He is a shining representative of the true communists of today’s China! He is a shining representative of the proletarian revolutionaries of today’s China who have courageously thrown themselves into the socialist counter-revolution!

Revisionism has been in power for 50 years, and Comrade Zheng Huilu has been fighting for 50 years. Whether at the Luoyang Mining Machinery Plant, on Zhouwangcheng Square in Luoyang, or anywhere across the country—wherever the struggle took place, Comrade Zheng Huilu was there. I was fortunate to have fought side by side with Comrade Huilu as a comrade-in-arms. He was sick, he was poor, yet he always fought heroically on the front lines. This deeply moved us all and has become an example for us all.

At this moment, as Comrade Zheng Huilu has left us forever, we feel all the more deeply that we must learn from his revolutionary spirit and carry it forward. The revolution—every revolution, especially the proletarian socialist revolution—always unfolds in the form of a mass movement. Without a mass movement, there is no revolution, and to ignite the revolutionary storm of a mass movement, it is necessary for the masses to rise up and carry out revolutionary deeds. With words alone, as mere verbal revolutionaries, one will not be able to ignite a revolutionary mass movement. The “Internationale” cries out: “Rise up!”, the “National Anthem” cries out: “Rise up!”, and Chairman Mao taught us: “Rebellion is justified.” Once the masses rise up, things can be easily settled. All of this repeatedly affirms this truth of the proletarian socialist revolution. Comrade Zheng Huilu is such a shining example, standing before our broad masses of the working people and throwing himself into the struggle against revisionism and restoration with concrete actions! We all often quote a phrase from our revolutionary teacher: Without revolutionary theory, there is no revolutionary movement. But we must not forget: Revolutionary theory alone does not yet constitute a revolutionary movement. Only when the people have mastered revolutionary theory and are determined to put it into practice does a revolutionary movement emerge. This is precisely where Comrade Zheng Huilu’s exemplary role lies. Comrade Zheng Huilu had faith and theory, but more importantly, he never distanced himself from the real struggle; instead, he always threw himself into the real struggle wholeheartedly and selflessly. He always followed Chairman Mao’s words, placed the class struggle and the struggle over political line at the center, drew a clear line against the “rescue factions” that were “only against corrupt officials, not against the emperor,” and stood courageously at the forefront of the class struggle. That is why he was also persecuted most severely by the fascist dictatorship! He fought until his last breath, even though he was plagued by poverty and illness. When we commemorate Comrade Zheng Huilu today, the most important and unforgettable thing is to learn the spirit of Comrade Zheng Huilu, who truly dedicated himself to the practice of class struggle, to carry on this spirit, and to unleash as quickly as possible a revolutionary storm throughout the country against the fascist dictatorship of the bourgeoisie, bureaucratic monopoly capitalism, to follow Chairman Mao’s line and strategy, to fight the headquarters of the bourgeoisie, to win back state power seized by the bourgeoisie within the Party, and to honor Chairman Mao as well as the revolutionary martyrs, including Comrade Zheng Huilu, with the great victory of the socialist revolution in China.

Comrade Zheng Huilu did not live to see the day of victory and has left us with tragic grandeur. As his comrades and fellow fighters, we mourn him deeply and must at the same time seriously reflect on how we can take the red banner of the revolution from his hands and continue the struggle. Furthermore, we must above all ask ourselves why, over such a long period of time, we have failed to defeat the bureaucratic-monopolistic capitalism that enforces the bourgeoisie’s fascist dictatorship, and why we have not even sparked major revolutionary upheavals on a national scale. One good comrade after another, one old comrade after another has fallen, yet the overall situation across the country has not fundamentally changed. On the contrary: Capitalization continues to advance, the suffering of working people grows ever greater, the bourgeoisie’s fascist dictatorship deepens further and further, and corruption, perversion of justice, and arbitrariness are on the rise. Fifty years have passed so quickly. As a serious communist who adheres to Marxism-Leninism and Maoism, I must seriously reflect: Is the line of our struggle correct or incorrect? Is the strategy of our struggle correct or incorrect? Even in the Manifesto of the First International, it was emphasized that working people already constitute the absolute majority in terms of numbers; the problem is that they must be armed with knowledge and theory. Lenin also pointed out that the ruling class could not rule a single day longer if the working masses truly came to consciousness. This makes it clear: It is not the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie that is strong, but rather we, the working masses, have not yet come to consciousness. Do not the members of the instruments of the bourgeoisie’s dictatorship also consist mainly of the children of the working masses? Do not even those small but all the more cruel city police officers come from the ranks of the children of the working masses? This fact is a problem that we must seriously consider today as we commemorate Comrade Zheng Huilu. If we cannot solve this problem, if we cannot set the socialist revolution in motion and continue to delay things, we will be doing a disservice to both the billions of living workers and peasants and to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives—and above all to Chairman Mao, who had placed infinite hopes in us. I believe this would also be the historical issue that would have been closest to Comrade Zheng Huilu’s heart. He and she cannot find peace in the afterlife, and Chairman Mao, in particular, cannot put aside his concern for us. Therefore, this is our most important, urgent, and indispensable historical task, which we must fulfill today as we commemorate Comrade Zheng Huilu. Please think about this for a moment, comrades—is this not so?

Therefore, at this painful and tragic moment, let us swear before Chairman Mao and before the countless revolutionary martyrs, including Comrade Zheng Huilu: We will continue to hold high the red flag we have taken from your hands; under the leadership of a correct proletarian revolutionary line, we will call upon hundreds of millions of people to join the socialist revolution; we must rebuild a truly scientific socialist society across China’s 9.6 million square kilometers of territory, so that the red flag of socialism may once again fly high over Chinese soil, so that the proletarians and working people of the whole world may rejoice and be encouraged, and unite with the Chinese people to trigger a new high point of the socialist and communist movement worldwide and realize the great ideals of countless revolutionary martyrs and heroes: The red flag of communism shall fly throughout the world!

We fear no failure, for victory belongs forever to the revolutionary proletarians!

Communism must be realized worldwide, and it will be realized worldwide!

The revolutionary martyrs live forever! Comrade Zheng Huilu lives forever!

Long live the victory of communism!
